Flexsave is now available via the GCP Marketplace!

We're happy to announce that ALL Google Cloud customers who consolidate their billing through DoiT can now benefit from Flexsave's automated compute savings by subscribing to the product through the GCP Marketplace.

Activating Flexsave via the Marketplace gives you:

  • Automated discounts on your on-demand compute workloads
  • More accurate drawdown of your existing Google commitments
  • More flexibility to spin up new workloads without worrying about on-demand pricing

Subscribing to Flexsave is a quick three-step process that's detailed with screenshots in the DoiT Help Center.

No action is required if you already have Flexsave.

If you have any issues subscribing to the product, raise a ticket and select DoiT Cloud Management Platform, and we’ll get back to you ASAP.

Announcing Cloud Analytics Alerts 🚨

Alerts is a new feature that helps you effortlessly monitor your cloud consumption at any level of granularity, so unwanted activity doesn't go unnoticed.

While setting cloud budgets is a great way to stay informed on your cost or usage, they aren’t great for all situations. For example, what if you wanted to know when any of your K8s clusters had a >10% week-over-week spend increase? Or if any compute machines had a day-over-day increase greater than 25%?

Monitoring at this level of granularity using budgets would require a lot of manual work.

But using Alerts, you can do this easily, and much more. Use Alerts to complement your budgets and anomaly detection for a multi-layered defense against cloud overspend.

Watch this 3-min tutorial on creating Alerts (including examples), or check out our documentation to learn more.

Custom Maximum Lines in your cloud invoices!

We are excited to announce a new feature for our AWS and Google Cloud invoices: maximum custom lines!

With this release, you can specify the exact number of lines you want to appear on your invoices rather than being limited to the standard 11 lines. This allows you to customize and organize your billing information to fit your needs better.

Until now, our invoices would normally include ten lines for your top projects or accounts, and the 11th line is for the remaining aggregated bill.

At this time, this feature is only available thru our support team. To submit a request, please submit a request at https://support.doit.com and select "DoiT Platform" and "Invoice Management."

We hope this new feature will make managing your cloud billing even easier and more efficient.

New and Improved GKE Lens!

We’re excited to announce a new and improved version of GKE Lens. GKE Lens is a powerful Kubernetes cost control feature of DoiT Cloud Cost Analytics that allows you to centrally manage and monitor the costs of your entire Kubernetes fleet of clusters. With the new and improved GKE Lens, you’ll be able to optimize your resource waste and streamline your Kubernetes operations in a way that’s efficient and cost-effective.

The new GKE Lens has been designed with FinOps best practices in mind. We have added features such as cost prediction, usage and resource optimization, which give you better control over your Kubernetes environment and help you make the most of your infrastructure.

GKE Lens is designed to be easy to use, so you can get started quickly and get the most out of your Kubernetes operations. We’ve also added documentation to help you get up and running as quickly as possible.

The new version of GKE Lens uses GKE Cost Allocation instead of soon-to-be deprecated GKE Metering. If you're not yet using GKE Cost Allocation today, we recommend enabling it on your GKE clusters as soon as possible!

GKE Lens is rolling out gradually to all customers; if you don't see it yet on your dashboard list, it will be added during the next 24 hours.

Report on AWS Marketplace Expenses

Many companies rely on AWS Marketplace to streamline their procurement operations. However, until today, there wasn't an easy way to report on the purchases made from the marketplace.

Starting December 2022, DoiT Cloud Cost Analytics introduces a new filtering dimension named "aws/billing_entity" which you can use to filter by native AWS services or the services purchased from the AWS Marketplace!

Autosave behavior removed for attributions

We have added guardrails for when you’re modifying attributions. Now, you will be asked to save changes to attributions manually. If you try to exit the page with unsaved changes, you will be prompted for confirmation.

With this change, you’re free to explore different configurations for your attributions without risking messing up the results of your reports, budgets, etc.

We will continue to roll out this pattern to the rest of the platform (including Reports), so keep an eye out for that!

Happy reporting!

New and Improved Way to Look at Flexsave AWS Coverage

We are introducing a  cmp/flexsave_eligibility label in CMP Cost Analytics, which helps better understand how Flexsave covers your AWS workloads.

This label can have one of four values:
  • flexsave_eligible_covered - workloads covered by Flexsave.
  • flexsave_eligible_customer_covered - workloads covered by your own Saving Plans or Reservations (can be covered by Flexsave when these expire!)
  • flexsave_eligible_uncovered - workloads that can be covered by Flexsave but were not, most probably because they are too unstable.
  • flexsave_ineligible - workloads that do not qualify for Flexsave
To make it easier, we have created a new preset report "Flexsave AWS Coverage by Type".

Note, the label is only applicable to customers in dedicated AWS organizations.

Get Granular Cost Analytics on Cloud Run and Cloud Functions (GCP)

improvement DoiT Cloud Cost Analytics can now report on granular GCP Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions cost data, accurately measuring invocations and used resources per each instance.

To generate the report, group by "Service" (while selecting only "Cloud Run" and "Cloud Functions"), and then add "Resource" and "SKU" into the "Grouping" section.

New dimensions in Cloud Analytics - Service ID and SKU ID

We have some great news to share with you today - Service and SKU now include ID dimensions! This means that when you create reports, you'll be able to see not only the Service and SKU name, but also their IDs.

These new dimensions will allow you to uniquely identify service and ID, allowing for very detailed analysis.

As always, thanks for using Cloud Analytics. If you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!

Reduce your user management burden with Auto Provisioning

Cloud management is a team sport,  it's essential that everyone involved have access to clear reporting systems with the right levels of access. To improve this experience in our tools, we are happy to announce the release of additional Authentication configuration options.

Auto Provisioning

Save time inviting each user by enabling this function.  Once enabled, non-Active users (either Invited or not) from an allowed domain, will have a user automatically provisioned for them on their first login.

The user will be granted the default role in your organization.  By default, this is the Support User.  That can be changed easily to fit your need.

To further restrict access, you can choose which supported domains will allow this behavior. Simply select the domains you wish to allow

Ensuring your teams have friction free access to our powerful tooling will help to build and maintain cost awareness and effectiveness managing your cloud assets in a distributed and scalable way.
