Notification Center is here!

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Notification Center, available to all customers starting today.

The Notification Center centralizes and simplifies notification management, delivering critical information through your preferred communication channels.

Managing notifications can be overwhelming, especially when trying to ensure the right people are notified at the right time. As cost management in the Cloud becomes increasingly sensitive, many of you have found immense value in features like Cost Anomalies, Budgets, Alerts, Daily Digest, and Credit & Quota Utilization. These tools are instrumental in detecting potential cost-issues and reacting in time, and our Notification Center proactively brings these services to your attention, helping to separate signal from the noise.

With the Notification Center, you can manage both Slack and email notifications across all of the features supported today. In addition, it provides a place to integrate and manage additional endpoints to allow key insights to reach the right people at the right time.

Now you can send our notifications to multiple public and shared Slack channels. But, if you prefer email, you can also send notifications to multiple email addresses, regardless of whether the user received an invitation to DoiT Navigator.

Currently, we support email and Slack, but we plan to add more providers soon. Stay tuned for more updates from us!

To learn more about the new Cloud Navigator Notification Center and how to set up your own alerts, you can view this interactive demo, or read about it in the DoiT Help Center.

Use tags to filter through your assets

We’re excited to announce that you can now view and use asset tags to filter through your AWS and GCP assets.

Previously, you had to open individual assets to see and manage their tags, which wasn’t a great experience if you had hundreds of projects or accounts. With this change, you can see the asset tag by default as a new column in the Assets page for AWS accounts, GCP partner billing, and GCP projects. If you don’t want to use the asset tag column, you can remove it by editing the columns of the Assets page.

You can also use the asset tag column as a filter to update the list view. When you don’t have any asset tags available, you’ll see a dash (-) in the list view, which you can use to filter them out.

We’re confident that this will allow you to filter and manage your assets for AWS and GCP in a much more efficient way.

Unveil Your Google Cloud Storage Costs with Precision

We are thrilled to announce a significant update to DoiT Navigator - our software for engineering-led FinOps teams, designed to bring unparalleled clarity and control over your Google Cloud Storage (GCS) costs. With Google Cloud Storage ranking among the top 5 cloud services for most Google Cloud customers, understanding and optimizing your storage spend is more crucial than ever. Our latest feature rollout enables a comprehensive breakdown of GCS costs by bucket, by cost type, and uploads by bucket, ensuring that every penny of your cloud storage spend is accounted for and optimized.

What's New?

  • Cost Breakdown by Bucket: Get a detailed view of how your storage costs are distributed across different GCS buckets. This feature lets you identify high-cost buckets and assess their utility to your organization.
  • Insight into Cost Type: Understand your spending pattern with a breakdown by cost type. This insight helps you distinguish between different expenses, such as storage, network, and operations costs, enabling you to target specific areas for cost optimization.
  • Uploads by Bucket Analysis: Gain visibility into upload activities across your buckets. This analysis is key to understanding data ingestion patterns and their impact on overall storage costs.

Enhanced GCP Lens dashboard: Our GCP Lens dashboard now comes equipped with these widgets by default for all customers utilizing Google Cloud Storage. With this integration, you can enjoy immediate access to these new insights without additional setup.

Visual Insights: To give you a clear picture of these updates in action, we've included three screenshots in this announcement. Each screenshot showcases the detailed reports now available at your fingertips:

Cost Breakdown by Bucket: Visualize how your storage spend is distributed, empowering you to make informed data storage and management decisions.

Breakdown by Cost Type: A pie chart that reveals the proportion of spending across different cost types, offering a clear path to cost optimization strategies.

Uploads by Bucket: A bar graph showing upload volumes by bucket, highlighting areas of high activity and potential for cost savings.

These enhancements are more than just features; they are tools designed to empower your FinOps journey, enabling better cost attribution, optimization, and smarter cloud financial management. As your partners in cloud efficiency, we are committed to providing solutions that illuminate your cloud spending and pave the way for significant savings and enhanced operational efficiency.

EKS Lens is now available in beta release!

We’re happy to announce that tracking and analyzing your Kubernetes costs within the DoiT Console just got much easier with the beta release of EKS Lens.

This new dashboard in the DoiT Console is populated by report widgets highlighting various aspects of your Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service spend, such as EKS node costs by cluster, unallocated resources, cluster utilization metrics, and more.

EKS Lens will automatically populate after you connect your Kubernetes clusters. Activating the product can be done entirely from the DoiT Console, and consists of a two-stage process outlined below:

  1. Creating a CloudFormation stack in AWS
  2. Deploying an agent in your K8s clusters using a YAML file

We have developed a self-service activation flow that will allow you to complete the process on your own. You can view each step of the process in this interactive guide, and then start connecting your clusters from the DoiT Console whenever you’re ready.

Here are a few additional resources you might find useful before getting started.

  • Interactive product tour to learn what data is provided in EKS Lens
  • Permissions needed to create a CloudFormation stack
  • Understanding EKS Costs
  • EKS Lens Help Documentation

If you have any questions about the activation process or encounter any issues, raise a support ticket, and one of our support specialists will be happy to help.

Anomaly detection is now dynamic with up-to-date status and insights.

We are excited to announce that DoiT Anomaly detection can now provide up-to-date anomaly status and insights.

Previously, the cost anomaly list page showed the cost anomaly and its start time, but it was unclear whether this anomaly was still active or not. On the anomaly detail screen, the graph only showed a snapshot of the cost at the time of detection. To view updates, customers needed to open the related cost report and had to manually validate if the anomaly was still active or not.

Now we have introduced an anomaly status, whether active or inactive. By default, the anomaly list screen will only show active anomalies. When a customer selects an anomaly, the detail screen will show the up-to-date status of an anomaly with updated graph values, according to the latest available cost data. Updates will continue to be made until the cost escalation stabilizes or is reversed and the anomaly becomes inactive, which will also be indicated on the graph.

We are confident that dynamic anomalies will save customers manual effort and help them address anomalies in a more timely manner.

Making Anomaly Detection alerts more granular with SKU-level detection

We are excited to announce that DoiT Anomaly Detection can now detect a cost anomaly for an individual SKU (Stock Keeping Units). By isolating the individual SKUs driving a cost spike, you’ll get a more detailed analysis, making it easier to quickly pinpoint and address the source of an anomaly.

Previously, DoiT Anomaly Detection detected anomalies on a per-service level, notifying you of a cost anomaly on a service (ex. S3), along with a cost breakdown of the SKUs for that service (ex. EU-Request-Tier2). However, this meant you had to manually identify the SKU and the resource(s) causing the anomaly. With this change, your anomaly alerts will pinpoint the SKU for you, and highlight all the cloud resources contributing to the SKU’s cost increase, speeding up your time-to-resolution.

We are confident that the SKU-level cost anomaly alerting will make it easier for you to manage your costs and keep your business running smoothly.

Use Cloud Analytics Labels to categorize your Reports, Alerts, and more! [Video demo below]

When you have different people and teams in your organization trying to understand and manage their cloud spend, it's important to begin categorizing and organizing the work each person and team is doing.

That’s why you can now create labels in the DoiT console which you can assign to Reports, Attributions, Alerts, and more.

This way, you can better filter for resources that matter to your team or yourself, and communicate that across your organization.
