Enhancing Cloud Cost Anomaly Detection with Resources

We are thrilled to announce an important update to one of our most popular features - Cloud Cost Anomaly Detection.

Until recently, the DoiT Console displayed the anomalies, with a breakdown of the GCP or AWS services making the most contribution to the anomaly. While this has been helpful for general Root Cause Analysis, we understand that more granular insights can provide an even better understanding of cost anomalies and what resources are driving the costs up.

The new version shows the SKUs contributing to the cost anomaly and the Resources associated with those SKUs. This enhancement will enable you to identify the specific resources that have caused an anomaly, improving your ability to manage and control cloud costs more effectively.

For example, this is how we were displaying anomalies until today. You can clearly see an anomaly with Amazon CloudWatch USW2-DataProcessing-Bytes, but there is no information on what caused this big spike in CloudWatch usage.

However, with this release, we are also displaying the Resources contributing to the anomaly, in this case, AWS RDS PostgreSQL instance prod-db-us-west-2.

We believe this update will streamline your anomaly incident management process by offering a more holistic view of cost anomalies, thereby aiding you in making informed decisions swiftly. By understanding what has led to an unexpected increase in cost, you can now drill down to the root cause and take appropriate actions more promptly.

More information about Cost Anomalies is in our Help Center.

Introducing the New DoiT Platform Integration With Zapier!

We're thrilled to announce our new product integration of the DoiT Platform with Zapier! This powerful capability will provide seamless integration between our platform and the thousands of applications available on Zapier.

As part of our inaugural rollout, three integrations will be available from the outset: Cost Anomalies, Cloud Incidents and Invoices. We're unlocking countless new use cases by connecting these DoiT features with the applications you already use and love.

You'll now be able to set up workflows such as logging an issue in Jira every time a new cost anomaly is detected or even sending a message to Microsoft Teams (or Discord) when a new Cloud Incident is detected. This streamlined process saves you time and ensures you're always on top of things, keeping your apps running reliably.

Cost Anomalies and Cloud Incidents 101

If you're new to DoiT Platform, Cloud Incidents are events, including outages and other known issues, on Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services that may affect the performance or availability of your services.

On the other hand, Cost Anomalies refer to spikes in your Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services costs across all your projects and services. Our cost anomaly detection employs machine learning algorithms to monitor billing data, analyze spending trends, and identify potential anomalies in your cloud environment. This gives you insights into which resources are causing unexpected expenses, enabling you to take necessary corrective actions.

More to Come

But that's not all! We're already working on additional integrations, including Budgets, Alerts, and Reports. This will allow you to launch Zaps when budgets reach their thresholds or when specific alert conditions are met. This is just another step we're taking to empower you to manage your resources more efficiently.

We believe this Zapier integration will empower your DoiT Platform use. This is just the beginning, and we're excited about the future. The possibilities are endless with the integration of the DoiT Platform and Zapier!

New Flexsave GCP Coverage Report

You can now get greater visibility into your GCP workload coverage with the  "Flexsave GCP Coverage Breakdown" report. This powerful report provides you with comprehensive insights into the coverage of your workloads by Flexsave, your own resource- and spend-based CUDs, and on-demand resources.
The report defaults to showing coverage across all workloads on a daily aggregation. It offers a holistic view of the mix of coverage across your GCP environment.

You can use the filters to zoom in on specific regions, machine types, and resource types.
This will unlock coverage analysis down to an SKU-specific level, providing visibility into a specific workload's coverage.
You can find the new report by going to Analysis > Reports and searching for "Flexsave GCP Coverage Breakdown."

Improved Top/Bottom filter

If you deal with large amounts of data when exploring reports, you can improve the readability of your reports using the improved Top/Bottom filter.

This filter allows you to only show only the Top or Bottom results for each grouping, based on a metric of your selection. It also gives you the ability to aggregate all the remaining items in 1 line, to aggregate them per each grouping level, or to simply hide it.

For example, if you wanted to explore Cost for the Top 5 Services and Top 3 accounts, but still show the rest aggregated per grouping, you would set the filter up like follows:

This will show the following output format:

If you choose to "aggregate all together" instead, you will see the following result:

This improvement to the Top/Bottom filter will allow you to focus on the biggest cost sources without losing sight of the total spend. We look forward to your feedback on this improvement to the Top/Botton filter!

Configure User Organizations via iDP

If you're using Single Sign-On (SSO) to access the DoiT Platform, you can further streamline your process by managing user organizations directly from your Identity Provider (IdP). This enhancement provides a greater command over data segmentation in the DoiT Console.

A Quick Refresher on Organizations

Organizations on the DoiT Platform provide the functionality for users to create distinct data segments, promoting a targeted Cloud Analytics experience. These organizations represent your company's structure, business units, and user data access within the DoiT Console.

How to Start?

Assign users to organizations simply by setting the 'doit_platform_org_id' attribute in your Identity Provider (IdP). If not set, no organization will be assigned, and the user will be placed in the root organization. There is more information available in the Help Center.

This feature aims to boost your control over data and user management. Your feedback is always welcome!
