Introducing ‘Easy wins’ in DoiT Insights

DoiT Insights helps you optimize your cloud infrastructure by providing actionable recommendations for reducing costs, improving security, and adopting architectural best practices. Today, we're making it easier to identify which recommendations you can implement right away with our new "Easy Win" designation.

Some cloud optimizations aren't always straightforward to implement. Some require significant planning, upfront costs, or risk assessment before implementation. To help you prioritize, we've identified a set of optimizations with minimal technical complexity.

Look for the ‘Easy win’ badge in your Insights page to find these high-confidence, low-effort optimizations.

Track your MAP-migrated workload costs and credits with AWS MAP Lens

Monitor the costs and AWS credits of workloads migrated through AWS’s Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) with AWS MAP Lens, an out-of-the-box dashboard by DoiT that gives you a comprehensive financial view of your MAP migration.

If you have tagged AWS resources with the “map-migrated” tag, the AWS MAP Lens will auto populate your spending and credits from past 12 months in a set of pre-defined widgets:

Here is the description of each widget:

  • MAP Spend History helps you track your migration spending trajectory and validate if actual costs match your TCO calculations, ensuring you can identify and respond to any concerning spending patterns early.
  • MAP Spend by Service shows which AWS services are driving your migration costs, helping you spot optimization opportunities and validate if your service adoption aligns with the planned migration strategy.
  • MAP Spend by Account enables you to monitor costs across different workloads and accounts, ensuring each migration project stays within budget while helping with cost allocation and prioritization decisions.
  • MAP Spend by Resources breaks down the costs of your migrated workloads to individual components — EC2 instances, S3 buckets, or RDS databases for example — helping you validate proper MAP tagging and make optimization decisions based on actual resource-level usage.
  • MAP Credits History tracks the credits AWS provides based on your successfully migrated workloads, showing you the actual financial benefits you're receiving through MAP over time.

We are also actively developing an auto-tagging capability for the AWS MAP workloads using CloudFlow.

To learn more about AWS MAP Lens, please consult our documentation in the DoiT Help Center.

A cleaner view of your cloud cost anomalies

We've redesigned the anomaly details interface in DoiT Anomaly Detection to make critical information easier for you to scan and understand. The new layout organizes key data into clear sections:

  • Status and timeline
  • Cost impact and severity
  • Account, Service and SKU context
  • Next steps

All of the detailed insights you rely on are still there, just presented in a more digestible format. Check out the refreshed interface in the screenshot below, or view an anomaly on your own account.

To learn more about Anomaly Detection, check out our documentation in the Help Center.

New Budgets

We have revamped our Budgets! They now support:

  1. Flexible Scoping: You can now define a budget scope with any dimension you like, for example a set of accounts or projects, one or multiple regions… you name it!
  2. Budget vs. Actuals View: Quickly see how you are performing toward your budget for the period.

The new Budget vs. Actuals View is designed to give you a detailed and comprehensive look at performance following your budgets. This view allows you to easily compare your projected budget with the actual expenses incurred in the current period. This gives you a clear understanding of where your money is being spent and helps you identify any areas where you may be overspending. You can also view your spending forecast, allowing you to make informed decisions before it is too late.

You can access the new Budget Versus Actuals View by clicking on View budget in the 3-dot menu for your budget:

We continue to improve Budgets and will be releasing some more exciting news soon!

Enhanced forecasting granularity in DoiT Cloud Analytics

DoiT Forecasting is now enhanced with the support of "Forecast per grouping" in addition to the "Total forecast".

Planning for future cloud spend just got easier and more granular. The forecasting capability in Cloud Analytics is now able to project future spend using the ‘Group by’ dimension for current and future months. By forecasting each ‘Group by’ dimension’s value, you’ll be able to:

  • Help engineering teams set realistic hiring/expansion plans based on their infrastructure spend trajectory
  • Track cost ratios between environments (e.g., dev should be 1/10th of prod) to ensure healthy spend allocation
  • Surface zombie projects or accounts that should be flat/declining but show growth

Below is the "Forecast per grouping” view once enabled

To enable the “Forecast per grouping” feature, we have introduced a new configuration option within the Forecast settings. Here, you can choose between “Forecast per grouping” or “Total forecast.” After making your selection, simply apply the change and re-run the report to see the updated results.

To learn more about Forecasting per grouping please refer to the Forecasting documentation in the Help Center.

What does this mean for you?
  • Notifications Centralized: Receive critical notifications directly within your Microsoft Teams channels so the important information reaches the right people at the right time.
  • Customization and Control: Just like with Slack, you can customize your notifications to fit your needs, reducing noise and focusing on what truly matters.
  • Security and Privacy: Enables notification within private Teams and channels where sensitive information is safe and only available to select members.
  • Easy Setup: Notifications within Microsoft Teams are quick and simple to set up. You can refer to our Help Center documentation for the process.

Ready to explore this new integration? Head over to our Help Center for all the details!

Deep Dive into Insights Recommendations using Reports

Insights gives you valuable, actionable recommendations to get savings in your Cloud bill. We know, however, that acting on these recommendations can sometimes be daunting and require a deeper dive into the data.

That’s why we have now added an option within each Insight detail page to open a report that can give you more information about the recommendation. Of course you can freely dive deeper into the data from there, harnessing our powerful reports!

---

Insights is available to customers on an Enhanced tier or higher.
