Monitor Datadog cost and usage in DoiT Cloud Intelligence™

Track and optimize your Datadog consumption alongside your cloud(s) spend with our latest integration for FinOps and engineering teams seeking unified visibility across all their IT investments. After connecting your Datadog account, you can explore your Datadog costs and usage in the DoiT console in several ways:

1. Datadog Lens: Ready-to-use dashboard providing a comprehensive overview of your Datadog usage.

2. Cost Allocation: Allocate your Datadog consumption and tags alongside your cloud and other 3rd-party tooling costs to business groupings with Attributions and Attribution Groups. See the example below:

Production Environment costs are defined via an Attribution as A) any resource in a Google Cloud project containing “prod” OR B) where any resource tagged with a Datadog environment tag with a value of prod:

3. Custom Reports: Build reports that help you understand aspects of your Datadog spend. For example:

Platform costs broken down by environment (for understanding how your different environments are impacting overall costs across your cloud(s) and Datadog)

Costs per host where a Datadog agent is installed (so that you can learn which resources have the agent installed or driving the cost)

Dashboard popularity trends (for identifying which dashboards are used the least that you might want to remove or modify)

4. Anomaly Detection: Automatically surface unusual patterns in your teams’ Datadog usage and take action before it impacts your bill and operations.

5. Unified view of IT costs: View Datadog costs alongside your cloud costs in Pulse dashboard, a preset dashboard giving you an at-a-glance view of all your cloud and 3rd party tooling costs together.

The Datadog integration is available for all the customers on the DoiT Cloud Intelligence Enhanced or Enterprise tiers, as well as on the DoiT Cloud Navigator Enhanced, Premium or Enterprise tiers. To learn more about Datadog integration please check out our documentation in the DoiT Help Center.

New Insight: Upgrade Cloud SQL instances

DoiT Cloud Intelligence now has a new Google-specific Insight that Google Cloud customers may not know about yet, but which will soon be critical to avoid unnecessary spend increases. This new Insight detects Cloud SQL major versions that reach end-of-life (EOL) by their developer communities. If your instance is running an EOL major version, then you will be charged for extended support starting on May 1, 2025.

As with our other Insights recommendations, we provide you with the total estimated savings for your infrastructure, broken down by project and instance so you can better prioritize your action plan. You can also engage the DoiT support team directly from the page, or create a Thread to alert your engineering team via Jira.

To read more about the latest Insights releases and how these can help you manage your cloud spend, read our latest blog post.

Note: Insights is available to DoiT Cloud Intelligence Enhanced and Enterprise customers

Expose Hidden Waste Beyond Cost: DoiT Insights Now Covers Also Performance, Reliability, and Operational Excellence

DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ goes beyond surface-level savings by now surfacing insights from all AWS Well-Architected categories, not just Cost Optimization and Security. That means more than 200 additional checks across Performance, Reliability, and Operational Excellence are now part of your unified view.

But this isn’t just about more alerts, it’s about smarter context. By layering Intent-aware FinOps, DoiT helps you distinguish between actual waste and justified spend. What looks “efficient” on a dashboard might actually be masking architectural debt or performance risks. Now you can spot those patterns, prioritize with confidence, and act on what truly matters.

Now available: Near real-time anomaly detection for DoiT Cloud Intelligence

DoiT's industry leading anomaly detection solution just got better with the ability to detect and alert for AWS cost spikes in close to real time. Rather than solely relying on the AWS billing data- which refreshes every 24 hours- to detect anomalies, DoiT Anomaly Detection can now also analyze usage metrics in near real time to catch cost spikes even before they show up in billing data.

This ability to take immediate action on anomalous AWS spend will be a big help for cloud operations teams in their efforts to keep cloud spend under control. By getting alerted as soon as costs go beyond their expected range, teams can quickly investigate and diagnose the problem, then take any necessary steps to remediate the issue. This capability is currently limited to AWS EC2 service only, but we more will be adding more cloud services in the coming months. DoiT users can tell whether an anomaly is based on real-time data because the source will be “Real-time usage data” rather than “Billing data.”

You can also determine whether an anomaly is still an ongoing issue by using the “Active” and “Inactive” labels, as well as being able to see if an anomaly has been acknowledged by another member of the team, all for the larger purpose of ensuring that unexpected surges in cost are dealt with quickly to minimize the impact on the monthly cloud bill.

This near-real-time capability for DoiT Anomaly Detection is limited to customers who are subscribed to a DoiT Cloud Intelligence Enhanced or Enterprise plan. To learn more about our Anomaly Detection solution, please consult the documentation in the DoiT Help Center.

Acknowledge cost anomalies directly from your Slack notifications!

DoiT Cost Anomaly Detection has added a new enhancement to simplify your anomaly management workflow. Previously, you could acknowledge anomalies, categorize them, and add comments directly within the console. Now, we’re bringing this functionality to your Slack!

Anomaly acknowledgment is a crucial step in managing your alerts—by marking anomalies as acknowledged, you can easily track which issues have been addressed and which still require attention. This ensures you stay on top of what needs resolution and helps avoid overlooking critical alerts.

With this new update, when you receive an anomaly notification via Slack, you can acknowledge, categorize, and add comments directly from the notification itself—no need to navigate to the console. This update saves you time and helps you stay on top of important alerts faster, all from the convenience of your Slack channel. Below are some of the screens:

Simplifying Cost Tracking: New SKUs Detected Notifications

Cloud billing can get complex, and unexpected costs can catch you off guard. Now, you can be notified whenever a new SKU appears in your billing data—helping you stay informed, avoid surprises, and take control of your cloud spend.

What does this mean for you?

This new notification type enables you to:

  • Stay ahead of changes: Get alerts for new SKUs that could impact costs.
  • Flexible delivery: You can choose how to receive alerts—via Slack, Email, Microsoft Teams, or directly in the app.

How it works?

  • A new SKU is defined as one that has not appeared in your billing data for at least three months.
  • Subscribers can configure how and where to receive these alerts.

You can manage or unsubscribe from this notification anytime in the Governance section under Notification Settings in the Notification Center.

Want to get started? Check out our setup guide in the Help Center.

Track your MAP-migrated workload costs and credits with AWS MAP Lens

Monitor the costs and AWS credits of workloads migrated through AWS’s Migration Acceleration Program (MAP) with AWS MAP Lens, an out-of-the-box dashboard by DoiT that gives you a comprehensive financial view of your MAP migration.

If you have tagged AWS resources with the “map-migrated” tag, the AWS MAP Lens will auto populate your spending and credits from past 12 months in a set of pre-defined widgets:

Here is the description of each widget:

  • MAP Spend History helps you track your migration spending trajectory and validate if actual costs match your TCO calculations, ensuring you can identify and respond to any concerning spending patterns early.
  • MAP Spend by Service shows which AWS services are driving your migration costs, helping you spot optimization opportunities and validate if your service adoption aligns with the planned migration strategy.
  • MAP Spend by Account enables you to monitor costs across different workloads and accounts, ensuring each migration project stays within budget while helping with cost allocation and prioritization decisions.
  • MAP Spend by Resources breaks down the costs of your migrated workloads to individual components — EC2 instances, S3 buckets, or RDS databases for example — helping you validate proper MAP tagging and make optimization decisions based on actual resource-level usage.
  • MAP Credits History tracks the credits AWS provides based on your successfully migrated workloads, showing you the actual financial benefits you're receiving through MAP over time.

We are also actively developing an auto-tagging capability for the AWS MAP workloads using CloudFlow.

To learn more about AWS MAP Lens, please consult our documentation in the DoiT Help Center.
