Real-time anomaly detection now also available for Google Compute Engine
We're excited to announce that Anomaly Detection for DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ now includes real-time detection of unexpected cost or usage changes on Google Compute Engine , in addition to its existing real-time capabilities for Amazon EC2 and RDS.
Once real-time detection is enabled, DoiT Cloud Intelligence will notify you in less than 30 minutes after new cost anomalies are detected; this provides earlier detection than relying solely on billing data, where it may not appear for several hours or even days afterwards.
Why it matters
This enhancement empowers you to address cost issues as soon as they appear.
- Early detection: Quickly identify and address cost anomalies before they balloon out of control, enabling more agile budget management
- Extra security: Benefit from an extra layer of financial security by monitoring cost anomalies as they occur, providing additional protection against unauthorized compute costs
- Optimized response: Real-time notifications allow you to take corrective actions promptly, protecting your bottom line
- Improved governance at no additional cost: Real-time anomaly detection uses your existing Cloud Logging audit logs, so you won’t see any additional charges on your invoice
What’s New
Google native cost anomaly detection relies on next-day billing data to trigger notifications. With DoiT Cloud Intelligence, the time lag on Google Compute cost anomalies has been dramatically reduced, with alerts now coming in within 30 minutes of identifying an anomaly. This advancement means fewer surprises and quicker, data-driven responses to unplanned cost escalations.
We will also be expanding this capability to other Google Cloud services in the coming months.
Getting Started
Real-time anomaly detection on Google Cloud requires enabling it in the DoiT Cloud Intelligence console, as well as granting access to your Google Cloud Audit logs (granting this permission must be done by someone with the ‘Organization Role Administrator’ IAM role in Google Cloud).
You can read more about the enablement process and the permissions required by consulting our Help documentation, or reaching out to your DoiT account team.
Real-time anomaly detection is available for DoiT customers with an active Enhanced, Premium, or Enterprise subscription.
